The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. The appointee will contribute to a programme of work using quantitative and qualitative methods to explore barriers to early diagnosis and effective joined up treatment of sleep disorders (obstructive sleep apnoea and narcolepsy) in the UK. This will include: (1) Taking a leading role in all stages of in-depth qualitative research (2) Supporting the wider programme by understanding and exploring the bigger picture, and through stakeholder engagement activities.

The post is suitable for a post-graduate degree holder, ideally with a doctor degree in a relevant subject. The applicant must have demonstrable experience in conducting all stages of qualitative research, including in-depth interviews, ideally in the context of health services research in high-income countries and some experience of Public Patient Involvement or Engagement (PPI/PPE).

The post is full-time, 1.0 FTE and fixed-term for 1 year. The post is funded by the NIHR and is available from 01 April 2024.

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 6 in the range £43,947 - £49,908 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
