Research Fellow in Position, Navigation and Timing Technologies (PNT)
We welcome applications from prospective Research Fellows in position, navigation and timing. This exciting new role is not assigned to a specific research project and will be part of the Signals and Autonomy Research Group within the Centre for Autonomous and Cyber-Physical Systems to support a variety of research activities going forwards.
About the Role
Our reputation for leading in the field of digital systems: sensor data and signal processing for position, navigation and timing, machine learning - has been established through active research in this field. The research group you would be joining is focused on research on AI-based robust and resilient position, navigation, and timing for both the present air and land systems and for the future autonomous ones. Research work covers both funded research (from research councils and directly from clients) and academic provision (MSc and PhD).
About You
You will be educated to doctoral level in a relevant subject and your skills & knowledge will mean you can contribute to research & some teaching activities such as (1) research in machine learning for autonomous systems (especially for sensors and data processing for positioning, navigation and timing - PNT), (2) teaching in machine learning and position, navigation and timing technologies for our MSc courses, (3) engage with academic, business and defence stakeholders to develop and deliver research projects, and (4) assist in activities in the group with other academics, researchers and students. You will be expected to collaborate with the existing staff working in the same group and centre and have communications and meetings with our collaborators within the university, the industrial and defence partners, or in other universities.
