Job Description

As a research fellow in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department, you will work with Asst. Prof. Gary Lei (PI) on an environmental fluid mechanics project to investigate how coastal vegetation affects the waves, currents, and sediment transport.

You will design and conduct laboratory experiments in the Hydraulic Engineering Lab at NUS. You will be expected to contribute to the project deliverables and help the PI supervise junior research students.

Job Requirements

  • A PhD degree, or near completion, in civil, mechanical, or coastal engineering
  • Ability to design and conduct flume experiments and analyse experimental data sets in MATLAB, R, or Python environments
  • Ability to supervise undergraduate, Master's, and PhD students
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Deft3D and XBeach is desirable but not essential
  • Open to fixed-term contract
