The Division seeks to appoint a Research Associate to work within the National Institute for Health and Care Research Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR BRC) Hearing Health Theme and Manchester Centre for Audiology and Deafness (ManCAD) at the University of Manchester. This is a full-time post working on a research project funded by the NIHR BRC Hearing Health theme.

The project will use virtual reality (VR) to examine how people with and without hearing loss use auditory cues to enable them to move safely and confidently when doing everyday tasks, such as crossing the road. The project will involve Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) activities to ensure that the VR tasks are ecologically valid and relevant to older people, and to assess the feasibility and acceptability of assessing movement and balance using VR and motion capture.  The VR studies will take place in the Virtual Reality Research (VR2) Facility (https://sites.manchester.ac.uk/VR2/  ) in Zochonis building on the University of Manchester campus.

We are looking for an individual who has experience with quantitative research methods in any area of psychology and/or audiology. An understanding of hearing loss and/or audiovisual sensory processing is desirable.
