Background

An exciting opportunity to work as a research assistant for the ‘Training communication partners of people with acquired brain injury (TANGO)’ project. The project is funded by a NIHR Fellowship and aims to adapt an existing communication partner training programme for use in the NHS with communication partners of people with acquired brain injury. You will benefit from a vibrant research environment at City and working within a research team with world leading research outputs.

Responsibilities

Your role will include, among other things: extracting key information about treatment; assisting in the qualitative synthesis of studies; supporting the writing of ethics applications; preparation of eDelphi surveys; co-facilitating and analysing focus groups of SLTs; working with people with brain injury, their family members and SLTs to codesign a treatment; and supporting any dissemination outputs and events organised for participants. You will receive support and mentoring from the project team, as appropriate to the role; and you will benefit from a range of resources for researchers at City.

Person Specification

A degree in Speech and Language Therapy with first or upper second class or equivalent. Understanding of ethical conduct of research. Experience of working with people with brain injury. Experience of communicating effectively and sensitively with a range of stakeholders. Experience and understanding of techniques for the management of clinical research information and relevant clinical research methods (i.e. eDelphi, behavioural change theory and COSMIN). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent planning, time management, and organisation skills. Good digital skills.
