The role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Newcastle University School of computing as a Research Assistant / Research Associate. In collaboration with Spotta, Cambridge and based at Newcastle University you will help to achieve an Accelerated Knowledge Transfer Partnership's objectives to develop a novel AI-enabled a pest surveillance system using embedded computer vision.
You will be required to deliver key innovations around computer vision and artificial intelligence working with academic and industrial specialists in the area. They will draw upon their postgraduate research and translate current theory and research outputs into the company in a practical way. They will be required to contribute novel ideas and enhanced techniques and methodologies ultimately leading to significant technological breakthroughs and publications.
You will have an MSc or PhD (or near competition of PhD) in Computer Science or related discipline with specialisation in computer vision or embedded systems together with significant experience in algorithm development.

The position is available on a full time, fixed term basis, to start immediately and is tenable for 4 months from start date.
