A part time (0.5 FTE, 18.5hpw) Research Assistant position funded by Wellcome is available within the group of Professors Fiona Gribble and Frank Reimann at the Institute of Metabolic Science (IMS), focussing on the gut-brain-pancreatic axis and its role in the control of insulin secretion and food intake. The group has a particular interest in developing gut peptide based strategies for treating type 2 diabetes and obesity. 

**Key responsibilities**

The duties of the post include genotyping, cell culture and general laboratory support. The first 6 months will be particularly focussed on genotyping tasks, as maternity leave cover. Subsequent responsibilities will include tissue culture support, general laboratory tasks and basic lab management, including:

- Genotyping (including maternity leave and vacation cover)

- Maintenance of organoid cultures and feeder cell lines

- General laboratory support for the research team (e.g. molecular biology, for which additional training can be provided)

- Maintenance of risk assessments and safety documents
