Postdoctoral Research Associate Cardiovascular Medicine

Updated: 2 days ago
Location: Cambridge, ENGLAND
Deadline: 28 Apr 2024

Applications are invited to recruit an enthusiastic post-doctoral scientist to work in the group of Dr Xuan Li. We employ an integrated approach, using the cardiovascular disease model, biochemistry, cell biology, and physiology to study microtubule dysfunction in cardiovascular diseases.

Our data show that the regulation of post-translational modification of microtubules plays a key role in controlling cardiomyocyte contractility after ischaemic heart injury. The project is aimed to further dissect the relevant pathway and players which participate in modulating this machinery after myocardial infarction.

The work will be pursued at the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Heart and Lung Research Institute. This new building provides an exceptional and stimulating environment that promotes collaborative and interdisciplinary research, and is housed on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus alongside the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute.

Relevant research experience in myocardial infarction animal models, primary cardiomyocyte culture, and cardiomyocyte physiology is desirable. Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant discipline and have a capacity to apply initiative and creativity to solve biological problems.

Applicants will be expected to work closely and interactively with colleagues in different disciplines within the lab, and have good communications skills.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD, or an equivalent research doctorate. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once PhD has been awarded.

Informal enquiries can be sent to Dr Xuan Li ([email protected] ) Website https://www.hlri.cam.ac.uk/investigators/dr-xuan-li/
