Based at: Cranfield Campus, Cranfield, Bedfordshire
Hours of work: 37 hours per week, normally worked Monday to Friday. Flexible working will be considered.
Contract type: Fixed term contract
Fixed Term Period: Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2024
Salary: Research Assistant: Starting salary is normally £34,450 per annum (if close to completing PhD) or Research Fellow: Starting salary is normally £37,337 per annum (if PhD obtained)

Role Description
About the Role
To carry out research and communications related to a Defra-funded Farming Futures project “Increasing yield in UK protected cropping by altering light quality”. The project will evaluate innovative new greenhouse coating technology for its effect on plant growth and development and on postharvest quality for selected horticultural crops. The technology alters light spectrum to affect photosynthesis and growth responses using novel chemistry.
About You
You will be educated to doctoral level in some aspect of crop or plant science (or close to completion) and will have experience of running plant growth and/or postharvest storage trials. Ideally you will have experience in analytical biochemistry. With excellent communication skills, you will be able to work effectively with a range of stakeholders in horticulture and agri-technology.
