An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic, research-driven team in the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure and Sustainable Engineering. The department has a clear focus on delivering excellent research, education and services to stakeholders.

Candidates with a passion for inspiring teaching, an aptitude and interest to teaching broader subject areas in digital construction and related areas in construction management and quantity surveying will be preferred. The ability to develop innovative modes of course delivery, assessment, and curriculum design will be taken as a great advantage. The department is delivering a dual degree programme with Northeast Forestry University, China. The successful applicant will play a key role in the delivery of this programme. 

Candidates should have a PhD and/ or an MSc with relevant industry experience in Construction management or quantity surveying or built environment or civil engineering or closely aligned disciplines. Teaching experience, a good publication record and demonstrable evidence to develop an internationally recognised research profile are required. Research experience in digital construction (i.e in technologies like machine learning, augmented reality, construction robotics, digital twins & security, the Internet of Things, etc.) either within Higher Education or in a relevant industry sector will be welcomed. A professional qualification or working towards such is desirable. 

We are striving to develop a research centre in the Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering and Management theme and have growing research portfolios in highway engineering, innovative construction materials, infrastructure sensing, digital twins, and the circular economy. We also collaborate closely with two research institutes in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS). The successful appointee will have the opportunity to engage in multidisciplinary research areas. For further information please visit the following links.
