As part of our growth strategy we are seeking inspirational and highly motivated individuals to contribute to the development of the Department’s research, teaching and learning activities. We welcome discussions with prospective candidates who have interests in specified areas of information systems and information technology such as digital transformation and business intelligence (see further details). We are keen to discuss new ideas in order to strengthen our research, complement our business support provision and support our teaching and learning activities.

You will have a good first degree in IS/ICT, computer science, or equivalent, as well as a higher degree in a relevant academic discipline (e.g. digital transformation, business intelligence, cloud computing, etc.). You must also be able to demonstrate an established or emerging path of research with links to teaching and learning, and engagement with external stakeholders. We are especially looking for people with a ‘hands-on’ and ‘can-do’ attitude.

This post is being offered as a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Digital Transformation and Business Intelligence. You will be appointed in the Operations and Information Management Department (OIM) at a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level depending on your skills and experience. The department has three teaching groups: Global ICT/IS Management, Business Analytics, and Operations Management. In addition, we have four research centres: Advanced Services, Cybersecurity, Circular Economy, and Crises Management. We are planning to launch another research centre in Business Analytics in the near future.

There is a thriving teaching and learning, business engagement and research culture in the Department, which has a strong reputation for being rigorous, relevant and entrepreneurial. We support participation in international conferences, teaching innovations and supervision of PhD/DBAs, and we encourage business engagement and corporate client opportunities.

Aston Business School is a triple-accredited University (EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA) and one of the leading Universities in the UK for academic research (in the 2014 REF we received 100% for Research Impact), we pride ourselves on excellent teaching and business engagement. We are one of the few UK institutions with the Small Business Charter’s Gold Award. In 2020 we were The Guardian’s University of the Year and THE’s Entrepreneurial University of the Year. We are shortlisted for THE’s University of the Year in 2021-22 and are in the QS Top 100 World University Rankings for Business and Management. The University actively supports and finances academic and entrepreneurial spin-offs.

The post is available to start as soon as possible.
