Job title: Project Manager

Contract type:  Full time (35 hours per week), 12 month maternity contract

Location: Liverpool or London

Salary: Grade 5, Liverpool - £37,500/London - £40,500 per annum. Please note, for internal applicants the salary will be reflected by pay and award policy

Working arrangements:  35 hours per week between 8am and 6pm. Hybrid working - you will be required to work in the office a minimum of 6 days per month. Exact working pattern to be agreed with the Line Manager

About the role 

As the Project Manager, you will be managing individual projects and working as part of a team to support the governance of projects across the college. You will also be expected to give direct support to project managers across the organisation. You will also be responsible for producing reports and data on a monthly basis that will clearly demonstrate how projects are progressing. The audience for such reports will be up to and including the Chief Executive. The main purpose of the PMO will be to make sure that projects and programs are run successfully in a repeatable, standardized way , to improve the efficiency of how the college conducts project management, saving the college both time and money.

  • Feedback from customers, both internal and external

What you’re accountable for…

  • Planning: Creating project plans in MS project, creating scope documents / PIDs and keeping them all up to date
  • Reporting: Creating and updating RAG status reports with upcoming milestones and project status.
  • Managing Stakeholders: Keeping key stakeholders (including external clients and senior management) updated with key project information through regular status update calls and meetings and escalating issues appropriately where necessary
  • Scheduling and managing resource: Assisting in the prioritisation of projects based on criticality and resource availability across the organisation
  • Managing Risk: Identifying risks (resources, timeline, delays etc.) and managing these using appropriate techniques, creating and maintain risk and issue logs.
  • Supporting other project managers across the College to enable them to manage their projects in line with the agreed project management structure.

Your experience includes…

  • A Project Management qualification or relevant experience working either as a Project Manager or Project Co-ordinator is essential
  • Delivering a number of diverse projects at the same time to the satisfaction of project stakeholders
  • An understanding of how a project management office works
  • Providing a high level of customer service to internal clients
  • An ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to all project stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Able to demonstrate that you can prioritise your own workload and complete tasks with a high level of accuracy
  • Working knowledge of MS Project is desirable
