About Us

Diamond Light Source is one of the most advanced scientific facilities in the world, and its pioneering capabilities and talented staff are helping to keep the UK at the forefront of scientific research.

At Diamond we are currently planning a major upgrade of the facility, known as Diamond-II. The Diamond-II upgrade is a co-ordinated programme of development that will combine a new machine and new beamlines with a comprehensive series of upgrades, which will ultimately generate an even more brilliant light source at a higher energy.

About the Role

As our preparations for Diamond-II accelerate, we now have an opportunity for an experienced Project Coordinator to join our busy Diamond Planning Office (DPO) team. You will be responsible for providing high quality project management support to the team across a broad range of projects and systems that underpin world-class, cutting-edge science.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Executing project management administrative tasks such as updating risk registers, projects plan and assisting with the development of other project management documents.
  • Administering key processes within our Project Portfolio Management tool regarding Timesheets and maintaining resource information.
  • Monitoring the DPO inbox, resolving queries in particular relating to Timesheets or escalating as required.
  • Centralise and manage the sign off process for all Project related documentation. Liaise with key stakeholders and ensure the process is efficient.

About You

You should be educated to A level standard or equivalent and be able to demonstrate significant practical experience working within a busy project environment, as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  •  You will need to demonstrate keen problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly come up with solutions and strategies. You’ll also show plenty of initiative and take personal responsibility for delivery of work.
  • You will have strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build good relationships with staff at all levels.
  • You will require excellent MS Office skills.
