Edinburgh Business School is recruiting a Professor in Sustainable Logistics to join the world-leading Centre for Sustainable Logistics (CLS) which is based within the Marketing and Operations Department.  CLS is internationally recognised for its research and industry engagement and has a growing research portfolio of national and international significance.  CLS leading the UKRI TRANSIT project and is a co-investigator with DARe (Decarbonised Adaptable and Resilient Transport Infrastructure).  These projects have a planned combined funding of £32M with matched industry funding of industry of £25M. CLS is poised to extend its research into digitalisation and artificial intelligence. This new role will advance the leadership and development of CLS to make an enhanced contribution to the University’s Global Research Institute (GRI) for Net Zero.

Applicants must possess a PhD in a relevant field.  They should demonstrate outstanding academic achievement through a track record of grant funding, internationally excellent publications, and industry collaboration with associated impact case studies. In addition, candidates should have proven ability in mentoring and developing colleagues at various career stages.  The ideal candidate will have an external international network of research collaborators and demonstrate success at meeting strategic university research targets.

This role is suitable for either Associate Professors looking to progress into a full professorial role, or those who are currently a professor.  Workload is divided typically as 40% Research, 40% teaching and 20% administration.  Allocated teaching is planned to be delivering research-informed content to undergraduate and taught postgraduate plus PhD supervision. Exceptional applicants may qualify as a Bicentennial Chair which for three years will have a division of workload of 70% for research, 10% for teaching and 20% for administrative activity.
