One role is fixed term for 12 months, one role is permanent. Both of these roles are 0.8 FTE and term-time only.

Library and Student Services are recruiting a Principal Specialist Mentor (Mental Health) who will be responsible for ensuring that students with mental health problems are provided with adaptive and outcome-focused mentoring support, underpinned by principles of autonomy and self-efficacy. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assessing and mitigating risk, including making referrals to statutory services where appropriate. In addition, you will provide guidance/support to junior colleagues, contributing to the wider University by providing wellbeing-related consultancy, advice, and training.

The successful candidate will have a clinical professional registration (e.g. HCPC, BACP, NMC, etc - Disabled Students’ Allowances Team, Dept. of Education ) and have experience of working with others to assess needs and develop strategies which facilitate independent learning and successful participation in education.  Candidates should also have strong organisational abilities, excellent time management and record keeping skills.

The role will be based across our City Centre and Headingley campuses.
