Offer Description
The Edinburgh Napier Business School is one of the largest modern Business Schools in Scotland and offers expertise, teaching and research across: Accounting & Finance, Business & Management, Law, Marketing, Tourism, Hospitality, and Festival & Events Management.
As part of our ongoing growth phase of the Business School, we are currently recruiting a number of experienced Postgraduate Dissertation Supervisors to provide postgraduate supervision for MBA Projects in various disciplines: Management, HR, Marketing, Banking and Finance and Entrepreneurship.
The Role:
As Postgraduate Dissertation Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to guide students in selecting a relevant topic for their MBA Project and support them on the various elements of the secondary data analysis and its reporting.
We expect that you will be in an excellent position to use your experience of supervising postgraduate dissertations, to provide support and constructive feedback through 10 online group sessions per trimester and comment on the development of the project.
In addition to providing feedback aligned with the appropriate benchmark levels and criteria, you will be expected to mark and grade the final project as first marker and second marker.
You will also have the opportunity to use your excellent communication skills and effective interpersonal skills to listen, engage and inspire others, particularly within an online environment.
You will be working closely with the module team and programme teams in delivering an excellent student experience and therefore will contribute to the University's objective of growing our academic reputation for online education.
Furthermore, this opportunity will allow you to influence the next generation of business professionals while enhancing your own mentoring skills, should you be an early career academic looking to build a portfolio career or established academic looking to combine work with other responsibilities.
The position is home-based and flexible, although there are workload peaks and troughs, mainly linked to providing marking and assessment feedback to set timescales. Full training will be provided.
What we will need from you:
- A doctoral degree in a relevant business discipline (Management, HR, Marketing, Banking and Finance or Entrepreneurship)
- Experience of supervising postgraduate dissertations
- Sufficient familiarity with approaches used within the business management industry.
- Sufficient familiarity with qualitative and quantitative data analysis of secondary data sets.
- Ability to communicate accurately and fluently at a high level of English proficiency both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to respond sensitively to students with different needs and backgrounds
- Demonstrable and up-to-date IT skills e.g. use of a Virtual Learning Environment, Microsoft Office 365, online marking tools, video conferencing tools
