About the Role

Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work on circulating tumour cells analysis as part of a multidisciplinary study team on a research to investigate to the potential of using circulating tumour cells to predict prostate cancer metastasis and consequently to stratify the treatment of ‘localised prostate cancer’.  The successful applicant will have substantial research laboratory experience in biomedical sciences and ideally with experience in biomarker study, in particular using human clinical samples. The research will be carried out at the Centre for Biomarkers and Biotherapeutics, Barts Cancer Institute within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London at Charterhouse Square in collaboration with the Cancer Prevention Unit and Wolfson Institute within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry and the Urology Department at University College London Hospital.

About You

Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in relevant biological subject with substantial biomedical research laboratory experience and knowledge in biomarker research. Appropriate publication records are expected. Proficiency in cell fluorescence analysis and handling human blood samples would be an advantage.  A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records is also essential.

The post is based at the Charterhouse Square campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 3 years, with an expected start date of 22nd October 2021. The starting salary will be Grade 4, £34,220 - £40,194 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
