About the Role
The School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science is looking to recruit a Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Research Assistant in AI for Music. The Centre for Digital Music has a new Innovate UK grant, collaborating with a pro-audio company. The post-holder will work on audio signal processing for loop/sample detection in recorded masters, instrument identification in masters and lyrics transcription.

About You
Applicants require a Postgraduate Degree in Computer Science/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent). Applicants at the PDRA level must have a PhD in Computer Science or related field. Candidates must have substantial knowledge in Deep/Machine Learning, Audio and/or Music Signal Processing and familiarity with several of: source separation, instrument identification, music structure decomposition, sample detection, audio fingerprinting, singing voice detection and transcription.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a full-time/part-time (35/17.5 hours per week), fixed-term appointment starting as soon as possible, until 31 March 2025. The starting salary will be Grade 4-5, in the range of £36,572 - £37,182 for a RA per annum pro-rata and £40,223 - £44,722 per annum pro rata for a PDRA per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
