Operational Asset Manager

The new role of Asset Manager is key role within the restructured Estates – Building Services team. The role will be instrumental in ensuring that all Estates Assets (Mechanical, Electrical & Fabric) assets are managed and maintained within the Estates CAFM & Asset Lifecycle Management systems. The role will act as the technical lead on all asset information requirements and will act as “Handover Manager” for the successful transition of all digital Capital and Revenue project handover information in to Estates operational systems.
Reporting to the Head of Building Services the successful candidate will be an enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills and substantial experience of delivering highly customer centric services to a wide range of customers (both internal and external). They may have previously worked in a similar Facilities / Estates Management position and be looking for an exciting new challenge to contribute to driving forward the university’s bold agenda.

Salary: £39,347 - £44,263 per annum (Grade 6)

Job Purpose
Support the University within Estates & Campus Facilities, as the departments Operational Asset Manager, carrying out supporting work, providing advice, guidance and support, and leading projects within this area
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Duties
- Provide professional advice and guidance on Operational Asset Management (Mechanical, Electrical & Fabric Asset) processes and procedures to internal and external customers that will have institute wide impacts, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood.
- Take responsibility for resolving issues independently within the specialist area of Operational Asset Management where they fall within set role objectives.
- Investigate and analysis of specific issues within Operational Asset Management, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances within Operational Asset Management
- Ensure that the provision of Operational Asset Management is delivered to the institution, proactively changing the delivery according to customer requirements.
- Establish working relationships with key contacts, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s Schools/Directorates and outside bodies as required.
- Create specific working groups from colleagues across the University to achieve Estates & Campus Facilities objectives.
- Plan and deliver specific small-scale projects, co-ordinating and supervising project teams created as needed.
- Develop and deliver training within Operational Asset Management
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the department.
- Instruct and guide other employees across the University within Operational Asset Management as required.
- Ensure that an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties

- Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.
