Role Overview

CEG Digital wishes to engage the services of an Online Tutor for their MSc Nursing course run in partnership with UCLan university.

Online Tutors play a central role in the day-to-day success and vibrancy of the university’s online courses and are a consistent presence in the modules to which they are assigned and are usually the first point of contact for academic queries from students. Each Online Tutor will have a group of up to 30 students.

This is a flexible, part-time role and it is estimated that during a typical week, each student group may need approximately ten hours of online tutoring, although flexibility is required in order to accommodate busy periods such as assessment. Note that there will be key dates and contact points you will be required to adhere to which are driven by assessment dates in the course calendar. Full details will be provided prior to the start of the module.

The Course

This exciting new MSc course has been designed to aid registered nurses from all areas of the profession to develop the specialist skills, knowledge and inter-professional insights needed to drive their practice forward. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to evaluate and apply appropriate theories and models for contemporary leadership within the context of their practice as well as examine the practical use of nursing knowledge and its relationship with patient outcomes and the work of healthcare organisations. Students will be asked to utilise heightened cognitive, analytic and problem-solving skills to pursue continued professional development through personal reflection.

The Module

The aim of this module is to facilitate thinking and scholarship in nursing, in order that students can develop critical self-awareness and gain insights into the practice of contemporary nursing. It will guide them in building advanced learning capabilities needed to devise innovative approaches to develop their practice. It aims to enhance the exploration and evaluation of nursing knowledge and facilitate the critical examination of the influence and contribution of nursing in patient outcomes, in contemporary health and social care settings.
