  • Multiple short-term positions available in the Division of General Practice
  • Part time 0.1FTE appointments on Thursday mornings from end of January 2023 for 15 weeks
  • Base salary range: Level B $105,043 – $124,301 p.a. (pro-rata) or Level C $128,152- $147,413 plus 17% superannuation (appointment will be dependant on applicant’s skills and experience

About the team

The UWA Medical School is the largest and longest established medical school in Western Australia. It delivers a 4-year post-graduate MD course to local, national and international students. The School also has substantial and successful research programs across most disciplines in the medical sector.

The Discipline of General Practice provides high quality and innovative teaching to medical students throughout the course in collaboration with the wider medical profession and general practices.

About the opportunity

We are seeking Medical Practitioners with an interest and background in teaching to provide tuition, supervision, and assessment to Year 2 MD Clinical preparation students. You will be required to tutor two consecutive sessions for two hours each with around 12 students per group. You will also be expected to contribute to an all day OSCE examination on 6th April 2023.

The Clinical Preparation curriculum emphasises the essential clinical skills of history, examination and clinical reasoning that are integral for patient assessment and will focus on musculoskeletal and neurological examination.

About you

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:

  • Unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner in Western Australia
  • Experience in clinical practice within the last five years, with a broad general knowledge of history and examination of all body systems
  • Experience as a tutor and/or supervisor of medical students and/or junior doctors. 
  • Effective organisational, communication and negotiation skills.

Applicants with specialist training in General Practice or other specialisation will be appointed as Senior Lecture (level C). Those with no specialist training or who are undergoing specialist training will be appointed as Lecturer (level B).
