About the Role

The Department of Law is looking to appoint up to five new staff at the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Teaching & Scholarship) level. We are looking for candidates with specialisms in one or more of the following areas of expertise: Land Law, Equity and Trusts, Contract Law, Commercial Law, Tort Law, Law of the European Union and Criminal Law. Appointments at either level will be made based on experience, suitability and business needs. We would particularly welcome applications from academics who are able to teach flexibly across the Department of Law's core undergraduate modules, as well as those who can support teaching in Company Law, Intellectual Property Law and Competition Law.

About You

You will have a PhD in a relevant subject, or equivalent professional experience, or relevant professional qualification, and a demonstrable ability to teach at undergraduate level. Ideally you will have teaching accreditation from the Higher Education Academy at Fellow or Associate Fellow level, or be working towards this. For Senior Lecturer level you will need substantial teaching experience.

The School of Law is one of eight schools in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and has two organisational units: the Department of Law and the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS). Established in 1965, the Department of Law runs thriving undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has a well-established international reputation for innovative research.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a full-time, permanent appointment, with an expected start date of September 2024. The starting salary will be Grade 5 to 6, £49,785 - £58,595 per annum (Lecturer) depending on experience, or Grade 7, £61,896 - £69,114 (Senior Lecturer) depending on experience, inclusive of London Allowance.
