Following the successful recruitment of several new lecturers over the past academic year, we are pleased to be able to offer an additional Lecturer in Psychology position. This position is being offered fixed term (until the 30th September 2022) and part-time (0.5 FTE).
The School of Human Sciences recently re-located to the fantastic and newly refurbished Dreadnought building on the World Heritage site at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. This move, along with the creation of new laboratory facilities, is part of significant investment in the School and part of a long-term plan to build internationally leading research and teaching in the Faculty. As part of this investment, we are looking to appoint a dynamic and engaged colleague to help grow and develop the School.
You will be joining a School and Faculty that is building a strong interdisciplinary and cross-professional approach to solving the grand challenges facing society. We are looking for colleagues who will have a commitment to maintaining and building the University’s excellence in teaching and learning, and who are doing research that has the potential for significant long-term academic and societal impact.
We welcome applications from individuals with an interest in any area of Psychology. This reflects our already strong coverage of core curriculum areas and clear research interest groups. As a Faculty we also welcome candidates whose research work will resonate with one or more new interdisciplinary Faculty Research Centres within the newly formed Institute for Lifecourse Development:
- Centre for Chronic Disease and Ageing
- Centre for Exercise Activity and Rehabilitation
- Centre for Inequalities
- Centre for Mental Health
- Centre for Professional Workforce Development
- Centre for Thinking and Learning
- Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families
The School has an active and growing research base. Psychology performed well in REF2014. Our current performance and continued investment in the discipline will lead to even better performance in REF2021 and beyond. The University is currently rated TEF silver, reflecting our excellent teaching and learning, and we have realistic aspirations to achieve a TEF rating of ‘gold’ in any forthcoming assessment exercise.
We are looking to recruit individuals with a strong and developing track record of research who, at the same time, are able to demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence and innovation. Candidates would be expected to have a PhD and a developing profile of international-quality publications, together with appropriate experience of teaching in the HE sector for this level.
We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Russell Luyt (Head of School); email: [email protected] and telephone: 020 8331 8867.
We are looking for people who can help us deliver our mission of transforming lives through inspired teaching and research, through our values.
The university welcomes people from diverse and underrepresented communities who can help the university to achieve its mission.
We do this through taking positive action such as encouraging applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, disabled and LGBT+ people. As part of our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Time to Change Employer Pledge /Mentally Healthy Universities , we are committed to promoting and supporting the physical and mental health of all our staff, and removing barriers to improve inclusion.
We encourage applicants to disclose experience of mental health problems so we can support them fully during our recruitment process and make any necessary reasonable adjustments. Any information disclosed will be kept confidential and separate from the job application form.
We are making significant strides to understand and continuously improve our employees’ experience and we are committed to implementing progressive diversity talent management.
