The School

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the leading police education institutions in the UK. Working with Babcock Training Ltd and three other universities, UWL is helping shape the future of the Metropolitan Police Service.

The Institute for Policing Studies was formed in November 2021 to bring together this collaboration and we deliver three programmes under the Police Constable Entry Routes (PCER) framework: the police constable degree apprenticeship, the degree holder entry programme for both uniform and detective entry (with Babcock) and our own Professional Policing Degree (Licenced by the College of Policing) alongside our own masters courses. The Institute has gone from strength to strength and now has over 1,800 students.

The Role

The role will report into the Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor, Chief Information Officer and Director of Digital Futures and will, under his supervision, lead and manage the Institute, its staff, delivery of policing education and fulfilment of the contract the University has with Babcock Training Limited.

The postholder will line manage other academic staff within the Institute, the administrative team, HPLs and work closely with the PEQF Contract Manager, the Institute/School/College Academic Manager and the relevant HR Partner and Finance Manager when needed.

For this role you must be able to demonstrate you meet the skills, experience and competencies set out in the Person Specification.
