Job summary

Are you an excellent communicator with practiced marketing skills, with a keen interest in climate change and innovation?

The Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment, at Imperial College London, are looking for a proactive and organised individual to join the Innovation team to manage the Better Futures programme.

You willbe responsible for organising internships for postgraduate students at Imperial College, at start-ups and SMEs with a focus on clean tech and climate change innovation. This initiative, Better Futures, is funded by a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) grant, in collaboration with the Greater London Authority (GLA).


Duties and responsibilities

You will independently manage the overall programme within established frameworks in liaison with the team running the Better Futures project, in particular the project manager at the GLA and the team at Sustainable Ventures.

You will:

  • Liaise with SMEs and start-ups to coordinate internship opportunities, speaking with them to determine their needs and translating this into exciting and challenging opportunities that can be advertised to students;
  • Implement a marketing strategy for the internships;
  • Market the yearly internship opportunities through cross-disciplinary College networks of education leaders/ coordinators, to attract high quality students;
  • Advertise internships by updating content on website;
  • Establish strong working relationships with Masters degree programmes at Imperial and with partner start-ups;
  • Gather and store correct documentation for monitoring and reporting requirements, as per the funder requirements; and
  • Submit quarterly claims to the funder, ensuring accurate and correct documentation is submitted.

Essential requirements

  • Relevant academic/vocational qualifications with some work experience in a similar role, or equivalent experience;

  • Experience of working with stakeholders from a variety of sectors;

  • Experience of running marketing campaigns;

  • Experience of producing clear and concise material in written and tabular form;

  • Experience of administrative work with a variety of staff at all levels, including the organisation of meetings and events;

  • Excellent communication, networking and interpersonal skills;

  • Excellent attention to detail;

  • Flexibility and a capacity to prioritize own work to changing external demands;

  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as a willingness to learn new systems and develop simple web sites;

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

This post is offered part-time fixed term 65% FTE until 31 December 2022 and 40% FTE from 1 January 2023 – 31 March 2023.
