Placement Support Assistant
Cardiff School of Healthcare Sciences

The School of Healthcare Sciences is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join our Placement Support Team. The team has responsibility for providing comprehensive, proactive, professional administrative support related to all aspects of student placements for all professions within the School. The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with administrative colleagues, academic staff, students and external placement providers is essential. The role holder will utilise complex spreadsheets which require an excellent knowledge of Excel. Problem solving skills and time management skills are key requirements of the role.

This position is full-time (35 hours per week) and is fixed term to the 31 October 2022.

Salary: £20,092 – £22,254 per annum (Grade 3)

Essential Criteria

Qualifications and Education

  • NVQ 2/GCSE level A-C or equivalent.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Some experience of working in an administrative or office environment.
  • Significant experience in using common office IT packages (e.g. MS Office) in particular Excel and/or bespoke computer systems.
  • Proven ability to set up standard administrative systems and procedures and to accurately update information.
  • Customer Service, Communication and Team Working
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member, providing advice and guidance to other team members where necessary.
  • Proven ability to deal with escalated requests for information or service, resolving customer issues where appropriate.
  • Planning, Analysis and Problem solving
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload within established timescales.
  • Ability to use initiative in solving problems and responding to queries ensuring compliance with standard procedures and practices.

  • A willingness to undertake further training and development.

  • Experience of working in a Higher education environment.
  • Fluency in Welsh, written and oral.
