Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Research Associate within the Cardiff School of Engineering.
The main duty of this role is to conduct research within the Advanced High Voltage Engineering Research Centre in the field of lightning protection for specialist aircraft.  The work will investigate various design options to develop an optimised and effective lightning protection for specialist aircraft.

The post holder will:
Carry out an extensive search of the open literature, and incorporate any further information provided from partner libraries related to the studied areas.
Define a suitable modelling approach and tools, with early proof of concept demonstration where appropriate. Work with partner engineers and use design data, geometry and materials as well as conditions of operation of aircraft platform.
Propose detailed workplan to cover next steps.
The post holder will contribute to the overall research performance of the School and University, carrying out research leading to the publishing of high-quality research. To pursue excellence in research and to inspire others to do the same.

This post is full time (35hours per week), available from 01/9/2024 and is fixed term for 6 months until 28/02/2025.

Salary:  £39,347 - £44,263 per annum (Grade 6 - Research Associate).  We do not anticipate appointing this position above point 32, £39,347 per annum.
