The opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic student and academic administration manager to lead our Taught Student Administration and Support Services for the College Office and on behalf of the wider College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our 11 Schools, the Centre for Open Learning and Edinburgh Futures Institute to contribute to our mission to deliver an excellent student experience for all of our students on taught programmes.

The successful candidate will have a flexible, solution focussed attitude and will be experienced in building and maintaining strong and impactful networks and communities of practice. The role involves close cooperation and partnership working with our Learning and Teaching and Student Deans as well as representation of the College and its Schools at University level committees and working groups.

The post is full-time (35 hours per week) however we are open to considering a flexible working pattern. We typically operate on a hybrid working basis that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working, with the expectation that typically three days per week will be on campus.

Your skills and attributes for success: 

Our ideal candidate will be 

  • An experienced, energetic and insightful manager, probably with a professional background in Higher Education
  • Adept in interpreting and applying complex regulations and policies, providing evidence-based recommendations for performance and service enhancement. 
  • Naturally able to engage with senior academic colleagues, professional service managers and external partners with diplomacy and tact and skilled in motivating and supporting her/his own team of professional staff.
