Deputy Research Finance Manager

Contract type: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Fixed-term: 18 months

Colleagues in Edinburgh Research Office work in partnership with researchers to develop and deliver world-leading research. We work across the research lifecycle – growing ideas into proposals, projects and impact.  We are enablers and connectors, networked across the University, able to provide the best advice to researchers and research leaders in all disciplines. We are part of a wider ecosystem of over 300 colleagues providing research support across the University of Edinburgh – linking through our Schools, Colleges and Service Groups.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Research Finance Manager to join our expert team to deliver a project which will deliver a review of our historical grants portfolio.

You will manage a team of staff responsible for this project ensuring the historical grants portfolio is fully reconciled and resolved of issues. 

The successful candidate will:

• a strong financial management and accounting background, with experience of working within a robust financial control environment
• have strong problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude
• be highly self-motivated and thrive in constantly changing environments 
• be passionate about using finance as an enabler to support colleagues in their goals
• have experience of staff management within a deadline driven, high volume financial administration function
