About the School

The School of Health & Social Care is a vibrant academic community for over 3,400 students and 120 staff. We are structured into four subject disciplines: Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health Professions & Social Work, and Health & Social Care Sciences.

We are one of the largest providers of midwifery and nursing education in Scotland and we have an international reputation for excellence in these disciplines. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a real difference and lasting impact on our University as we are currently in the process of finalising the development of the new strategy. It is clear that it will seek to build on the Strategy 2020 journey and remain true to our essence as an applied, relevant, inclusive and international University.

The role

This role will be responsible for leading the large diverse school, driving forward and building on our current achievements and providing strategic direction for growth. This is a rewarding and challenging role that will require someone with the ability to lead ongoing organisational development, with exceptional planning and leadership. We are looking for someone with ambition and vision to lead a student-centric School into an exciting new period.

As a Dean, you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team of the University and play a key role in delivering our ambitions both at School and University level.

The Dean will be an outstanding leader in their field, with a strong record of achievements in line with our academic pathways, relevant to the School’s subject disciplines. The Dean must meet the professorial criteria in line with our Academic Leadership Framework i n any pathway.
