About the role

Are you looking for an exciting new challenge and one in which, as part of a growing team of experts, you will play a key role in the evolution of the institutional approach to data capture, transformation, and utilisation for a multitude of strategic, academic and statutory reporting purposes?

Within the context of the OfS regulatory framework for HE, including the sector-wide shift to Data Futures, the post holder will work with the statutory returns manager to prepare external and statutory returns, including HESA Student Return (Data Futures), HESA Staff Return, HESA Provider Profile, HESA Aggregate Offshore Return, HESES, Unistats, Transparency Return and the ITT Return. This work will involve following detailed guidance laid down by HESA and the OfS and developing an understanding of the range of courses and profiles of student groups across the University.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will also support the Statutory Returns Manager in the preparation of management information and reports associated with the operation of some key university quality assurance activities. This work will rely on good communication, IT and data analysis skills, and an ability to coordinate and work successfully with diverse staff groups.

Working with the wider Data & Business Intelligence (DBI) function, and Digital Services colleagues, the post holder will play a pivotal role in supporting improvements to data quality across the University – including through developing data reports and contributing to data improvement projects within the Digital Transformation Programme (i.e., Data Futures Project, Enhancing Data & Insights Project, and the Data Governance Project). This will require an understanding of data structures, visualisation techniques and an ability to develop reports in the university’s business intelligence tools.

Following recent institutional investment in both an expanded DBI structure and in our key data projects, this is an exciting time to be joining the DBI team at Staffordshire University, and we look forward to hearing from you.
