The Library has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Customer Services Supervisor.   Based at the Winchester School of Art Library, you will be integral in providing direction to the front of house team the team providing services to our wide range of users including university staff, students and external visitors. 

This position offers the opportunity to work in a small team offering excellent service to the users of the library.  You will be a positive person, have experience of working in a customer facing role and be an effective communicator.

The library uses multiple IT systems to deliver an excellent customer service.  Therefore, you will have recent experience of using standard Microsoft software with the ability to use a range of IT systems and communication platforms.  

The successful candidate will work closely with the Library Site Manager to set direction for and supervise a small team of Customer Services Assistants to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of a high quality and professional customer service to all library users both in person and online.  You will also form part of the University Library Enquiries team where you will answer customer queries in person, over the phone and in an online environment, both via email and a live chat service. 

Salary is between £25,742 - £28,759 pro rata per annum. Successful candidates will benefit from a generous annual leave entitlement, University Closure Days, a contributory pension scheme and a structured training programme. 

You may sometimes be asked to work at one of the other University Library Sites in order to support service delivery – these are located in Southampton and are – Hartley Library (Highfield Campus), Health Services Library (Southampton General Hospital) and National Oceanographic Centre Library (Dock Gate 4). 

The role will include some lone working on an ad hoc basis. 

The following shift pattern is available:

Monday - Friday 13:45 - 20:15
