Job summary

The Imperial Enterprise Lab (E-Lab) was established in 2016 as a centre of excellence for the design and delivery extra-curricular entrepreneurship education and student startup support services at Imperial College London and, over the last 5-6 years, has built a reputation as the leading centre of its type in the UK.

Comprising a dedicated co-working facility at the heart of the South Kensington campus and a multidisciplinary team of entrepreneurship education practitioners and mentoring and coaching support professionals, E-Lab supports some 2,000 students every year through the delivery of events, hackathons, entrepreneurial programmes and 1:1 coaching and mentoring services.

The Community & Operations Coordinator helps to ensure the smooth and safe running of the Imperial Enterprise Lab spaces and associated services. You will be is responsible for proactively building an active and engaged community of student, alumni and post doc entrepreneurs. You will be responsible for coordinating the Lab’s co-working and events spaces and operations, and directly supporting the community of entrepreneurs working there through fostering a creative and enterprising environment and organising community-focused events and communications.

This is a varied role, with tasks ranging from facilities management, finance and administration support, to organising and managing events, A key responsibility of your role is to establish systems and procedures to manage the space in line with health and safety requirements and support the Operations Manager in the smooth running of the centre and associated teams.

You will play a key role in championing an inclusive, supportive and enabling work environment where all users feel welcome and receive the pastoral support and encouragement they need to make their ideas a reality.


Duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Facilities management
  • Community engagement
  • Finance and administration support
  • Organising and managing events
  • Supplier and vendor management
  • Establish systems and procedures to run the space
  • Support the Operations Manager in the operational delivery of the centre and associated service and teams.

Essential requirements

  • Experience of managing and prioritising a varied and multifaceted workload

  • Experience of coordinating events and community engagement activities

  • Experience of providing high quality customer service, being responsive and confident in dealing with customer needs

  • experience of administrative systems and work tools

  • Confident in financial administration, such as raising Purchase Orders and other managing expenses

  • Experience of supporting co-working spaces or relevant centres or services

This is a full time and open ended role and you will be based in the South Kensington Campus. This role will be in a shift pattern from 8:30am – 4:30pm.
