Applications are invited for a permanent post of an Associate Librarian, Director of Cultural Heritage within UCD Library .

The mission of UCD Library is to be a leader in enriching the student experience, to empower global engagement, and to act as an intellectual centre for the UCD community. UCD Library consists of five libraries, and UCD Special Collections, UCD Archives and the National Folklore Collection. UCD Library provides library and information services to UCD staff and students. UCD Special Collections, UCD Archives and the National Folklore Collection at UCD house collections of national importance for use by the UCD community and external researchers.

The Associate Librarian role is a leader in the strategic direction of the Library and holds key managerial responsibilities within UCD Library and serves as a member of the Library Executive. Furthermore, as Director of Cultural Heritage in the UCD Library, the successful candidate will be responsible for all Cultural Heritage activities of the Library. The Associate Librarian, Director of Cultural Heritage, will have overall responsibility for the areas of: UCD Archives, UCD Special Collections and the National Folklore Collection Cultural Heritage Repositories, and Reading Room Services and Teaching and Learning Engagement with the Cultural Heritage Repositories, as well as UCD Library Communications and Public Engagement.

They will work with colleagues to articulate a strategic vision and operational plan for Cultural Heritage and Library communications that takes account of the University's key priorities and the current Library Strategy. They will also contribute to capital development planning including leading on the relocation of collections as required.

The successful candidate will be someone with vision and ambition, and a track record in leading change. They should have an established profile within the profession and be able to demonstrate their engagement with national and international professional activities. They will also be able to provide evidence of professional development activity to prepare them for a senior library leadership role. They will have knowledge of significant trends that impact cultural heritage and libraries, as well as a deep understanding of the requirements to deliver a world-class cultural heritage service. They will be resilient and flexible, comfortable with a fast-paced and changing environment, and able to work independently and accommodate uncertainty.

95 Snr Administrative Iii\2013 (2010) (7439) Salary Scale: €78,875 - €111,388 per annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
