Administrative Officer
Research and Innovations Services
You will be employed as an Administrative Officer in the Research and Innovation Services department. You will assist with the operational aspects of the work of the Pre-Awards Unit of the Research Grants Office team providing assistance to Academic staff in the costing and pricing of research and services rendered applications for funding and the submission of applications through the various electronic systems.
This role is eligible to be offered on a blended working basis. You will be required to spend 2 days per week working on campus with the ability to choose to spend 3 days per week working from another location, e.g. your home. This post is full time, fixed term for one year and is available immediately.
Salary: £26,444 - £29,605 per annum (Grade 4)

Job Description
Key Duties
- Provide detailed advice and guidance on Full Economic Costing (fEC) and electronic application submission processes and procedures to internal and external customers, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, contributing to the resolution of more complex issues
- Collaborate with others in order to make recommendations for alternative costing scenarios to better fit within funding limits and to ensure compliance with other University policies and processes
- Establish working relationships with key contacts to help improve service levels, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s Schools/Directorates and outside bodies as required
- Check and validate completed proposals for external funding and to recommend for submission on behalf of the University
- To assist with the submission of applications through the various electronic document submission systems, ensuring these are submitted by the required deadline.
- Instruct and guide other employees across the University regarding the costing and pricing (CAP) of research and services projects, CAP Form completion, funder guidelines and application submission.
- To assist with the training of academic staff and College/School Professional Services staff in the completion of CAP Forms, fEC and application processes.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the team and department
