Administrative Assistant – Accounts Payable

The Finance Department is looking to appoint an Admin assistant. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Accounts Payable, you will be a proactive member of the School’s Professional Service staff, and work closely with finance colleagues within Finance and the wider University.

As an Admin assistant in Accounts Payable you will be part of the newly formed Finance Services Unit and provide finance support to stakeholders of varying seniority across the University. You will need to be comfortable working as part of a team and be able to work professionally with colleagues at all levels within the University as well as external stakeholders. The role is based in Cardiff University McKenzie House, with the opportunity for some remote working.

The position is full time, 35 hours a week and fixed term for 12 months.

Salary: £23,700 - £24,533 per annum (Grade 3)

This is an exciting time to be joining Cardiff University in a finance role as we are transforming how and where we provide our finance services. This includes the Finance Services Unit which will bring together all operational Finance services across the University into one unit.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications and Education

  • NVQ 2/GCSE level A-C or equivalent.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Significant experience of working in an administrative or office environment.
  • Proficient in using common office IT packages (e.g. MS Office).
  • Ability to set up standard administrative systems and procedures.
  • Customer Service, Communication and Team Working
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member, providing advice and guidance to other team members where necessary.
  • Proven ability to deal with escalated requests for information or service, resolving customer issues where appropriate.
  • Planning, Analysis and Problem Solving
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload within established time scales.
  • Ability to use initiative in solving problems and responding to queries ensuring compliance with standard procedures and practices.

  • Experience in oracle payables.
  • Experience of working in excel.
