This Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP)  project aims to develop an innovative evaluation approach for capturing and mapping out ACH’s refugee and migrant integration services – the Holistic Impact Metric (HIM) tool; and based on the evaluation tool to craft a commercialisation pathway for Ashley Community & Housing (ACH) Ltd to engage with multiple private, public and third sector customers. ACH’s vision is to empower refugees and migrants who reside in the UK to lead self-sufficient and ambitious lives. It provides tailored integration services that not only help individuals but also disrupt the systems that have entrenched inequalities in our society. It has a track record of delivering effective support services that give refugees and migrants the tools they need to succeed. In 2021 alone, it has helped 1000+ people to achieve their personal goals and lead fulfilling lives in their new country.

This KTP initiative blossoms from a decade-long partnership between ACH and the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME) at Aston University. Our various collaborative projects in the past focused on entrepreneurship, social integration, organisational productivity, and employment support underscore the imperative to comprehensively assess the social and economic impacts of ACH's refugee integration programs, emphasising the crucial role of commercialisation in propelling ACH's growth and fostering innovation.
The key objectives of this project are:

• Developing a Holistic Impact Metric (HIM) tool that captures the economic and social impacts of ACH’s refugee integration services
• Designing and developing customer value propositions and business models to capture values from HIM
• Creating and delivering bespoke service programmes on a commercial basis for clients
• Managing stakeholder relationships

The project is strategic for ACH as the HIM tool could evident ACH's effectiveness and impacts of approaches, help identify potential customer segmentations and inform the value proposition of ACH in commercialisation.

As a KTP Associate you will also develop a broad set of skills in project management, stakeholder engagement, and involvement in the delivery of a strategic project in an innovative business. The skills developed during the project will enable you to broaden your future career opportunities.
Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate for this position should possess a Master's level degree in a subject that is pertinent to business innovation, with a keen interest and good knowledge of the third sector and refugee integration services; or in a subject related to social policy, and migrant integration with good practical experience in business model innovation and service design.

Aston University: You will work in a project team with Prof Monder Ram, Dr Shuai Qin, and Dr Ahmad Beltagui at Aston University, the Senior Management Team at ACH, along with the support of the IUK’s Knowledge Transfer Adviser.  

Location: You will be based predominantly at ACH in Birmingham. You will also have access to facilities at Aston University in central Birmingham, and some travel to training and key clients may also be required.
