Your position

The Professor of Forensic Psychology conducts outstanding research in forensic psychology and takes on teaching duties (4 hours per week/semester) at both Bachelor and Master level in the field of forensic psychology as well as further responsibilities in psychological diagnostics at the Bachelor level. The Professor of Forensic Psychology is part of the new research focus Health & Interventions, leads studies, publishes regularly, and contributes by acquiring third-party funding.

This professorship is not limited to specific areas and might focus on various specialties of forensic psychology such as, but not limited to, the origin, development and prognosis of criminal behavior, the psychology of testimony, prevention of criminal behavior, therapy procedures for offenders, research into eyewitness testimonies (especially with children), analysis of judicial decision-making processes, developmental–psychological perspectives of juvenile and adult offenders, or the preparation of expert opinions.


Your profile

The applicant shows an enterprising personality and is willing to develop and promote forensic psychology in Basel. Applicants must be psychologists by training, have a distinguished record in international publication, and experience in acquiring competitive third-party funding. The Faculty of Psychology also aims at broadening job opportunities for its graduates by opening up forensic psychology to its students. Hands-on experience in evaluating offenders and applied knowledge of clinical intervention in forensic psychology are appreciated. The Faculty of Psychology expects a commitment to teaching and participation in academic management functions within both the Faculty of Psychology and the University of Basel.
