The Technical Lead/ CTO will play a pivotal role in leading the technical aspects of MYNERVA's neurostimulating device project, from concept to industrial production.


Project background

The MYNERVA project - a Wyss Zurich project- started in 2019 as a research project. Since entering the Wyss Zurich in September 2023, the project is looking to expand its small but agile team with the mission of improving the life of patients suffering with diabetic neuropathy.

MYNERVA developed a medical device to artificially restore the sense of touch and decrease pain using AI-driven non-invasive neurostimulation.

Our multi-national, interdisciplinary team is looking for an experienced Technical Lead/CTO (100%) that will drive the product development and play an active role in our team.


Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Neurostimulation and Artificial Intelligence Expertise:
    • Leverage knowledge in neurostimulation to drive the innovation and optimization of the device's touch restoration capabilities
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in neurostimulation and related technologies, translating them into practical applications for the product
  • Experience with Electrodes on Textile:
    • Apply knowledge and experience with electrodes integrated into textile materials for comfortable and effective patient use
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Provide strategic direction and technical expertise in the development of the neurostimulating device and its connected software
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product development with company objectives and market demands
    • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality and timely execution
  • Embedded Systems Development and Programming:
    • Lead the engineering team in designing and implementing embedded systems within the neurostimulating device
    • Ensure the seamless integration of hardware and software components to deliver a cohesive and user-friendly product
  • Project Coordination:
    • Efficiently manage project schedules, milestones, and resources to ensure successful development within set timelines and budgets
    • Foster effective communication and collaboration among team members and external partners to maintain project momentum
  • Medical Device Class II Regulation and Patents:
    • Ensure compliance with medical device Class II regulations and industry standards to meet all necessary regulatory requirements
    • Develop and implement the company's IP strategy, overseeing patent submissions and protection of MYNERVA's innovative technology
  • Outsourced Partner Management:
    • Establish and maintain relationships with outsourced partners and contractors involved in the design optimization for industrial production
    • Collaborate with external partners to ensure seamless integration of outsourced components into the final product

Your profile
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven track record in the medtech industry, ideally in neurostimulation and medical device development
  • Previous experience with electrodes integrated into textile materials is highly advantageous
  • Extensive experience (+10 years) in embedded systems development and programming
  • Demonstrated project management skills with a successful history of leading multidisciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with medical device Class II regulations and experience in obtaining regulatory approvals
  • Strong background in patent strategy and successful patent submissions
  • Willingness to work in Zurich
  • Fluency in English
