Program Officer working on organizational aspects of peace mediation support

The Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich is a center of competence for Swiss and international security policy. It offers security policy expertise in research, teaching, and consultancy. The position is fixed-term for a period of 6 months 


Project background

Our Mediation Support Team supports efforts to mediate and transform violent political conflicts by conducting research, providing training and directly supporting those engaged in peace processes. We are seeking for someone to work on the program entitled “Culture and Religion in Mediation (CARIM)” and “Mediation Support Project (MSP)” which is conducted in partnership with the Mediation Team of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and swisspeace.


Job description

Tasks involve organization of workshops and training courses, such as the Peace Mediation Course, Religion and Mediation Course, UN Religion and Mediation Course, as well as supporting the team with other content and administrative tasks.


Your profile

The successful candidate will have a relevant MA degree and ideally at least one year of relevant research or project management experience. She or he is a curious, cooperative, independent personality with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent English in addition to either German or French is required. Excellent command of excel and word, as well as project management experience is an advantage.
