Hansjörg Wyss. The mission of Wyss Zurich is to drive the clinical translation and technology transfer of outstanding scientific discoveries into new therapies for patients and breakthrough innovations in the emerging fields of Regenerative Medicine and Robotics, and to promote hybrid technologies in these fields. Project background
The Biomedical and Robotics Technologies Platform (BIROP) is a state-of-the-art technologies platform in the fields of biomedical- and robotics- engineering. The translation of technologies into products, within the available time and resources, is one of the startups' major challenges. The mission of the BIROP Platform is to support and accelerate Wyss Zurich projects in their transfer to market, by providing multidisciplinary expertise and services, covering a range of core competences such as product development, engineering, industrial design, prototyping, design transfer and quality by design.
Job description
To amplify our support function for Wyss Zurich’s projects in the area of medical devices, bionics- and robotics- technologies, we are looking for a service-oriented personality to complement our staff.
Responsibilities
- Actively engage with project teams to understand their needs and wishes
- Shape and scope out work packages to address project teams’ needs
- Support the execution of defined work packages, staying true to scope, effort and timeline
- Provide project teams with effective and reliable support service in various functions (e.g. work package leader, advisor, systems architect, development engineer, manufacturing engineer)
- Share your experience and product development practices with project teams in different formats and forums, e.g. 1-on-1 teachings, coaching, workshops, presentations
- Keep abreast of current developments in the state-of-the-art regarding relevant technologies and regulations (publications, conferences, news)
Your profile
How You Work
- You feel comfortable running multiple sub-projects in parallel and on different levels of engagement, ranging from occasional high-level involvement down to deep dives into project teams’ domains
- You are open to interacting with many interesting people with varied backgrounds, becoming acquainted with breakthrough technologies and accepting challenges that have no clear solution
- You integrate easily into matrix-like structures and function well in teams, but you can also set and follow your own goals
- You want to make a difference by accelerating start-ups with a high impact on our society
Qualification and Experience
- You are well-versed within one relevant engineering or science domain (MSc. or equivalent) and have a broad knowledge of other fields (mechanical, electrical, or bio-engineering, computer- or material- sciences, etc.)
- You have gathered relevant industry experience with multiple companies over 6 years or more
- You have developed several products from concept to design transfer or led such development projects
- You can demonstrate having applied sound requirements engineering, risk management and change management practices
- You have worked actively within Quality Management Systems and intuitively work according to Standard Operating Procedures in your field
- You have participated in or led stage-gate reviews and are familiar with the idea of Technology Readiness Levels
- You have successfully managed conflicting priorities (scope, time, budget) within your projects
- You use agile methods in a targeted way
- You are a motivated, creative and passionate person and excited to work with fast-paced, innovative and dynamic start-up projects
- You are fluent in German and English
