swisspeace is a practice and research institute dedicated to advancing effective peacebuilding. It supports and advises local, national, and international actors relevant for peacebuilding, undertakes research on topics particularly relevant for peacebuilding practice, provides spaces for exchange and dialogue, and shapes peace policy in Switzerland and globally. swisspeace is an associated institute of the University of Basel.

swisspeace fosters national and international excellence in peace research, teaching, and training by partnering with academics worldwide and using inter- and transdisciplinary approaches. Our research combines scientific rigor with practice-relevance. Our findings feed into academic, policy and practice discussions with the objective to improve peacebuilding actions and their impact.

To strengthen and expand its research, swisspeace is recruiting a: Postdoctoral Researcher (80 - 100 %)
Starting date: 1 January 2023 (or by agreement)

The postdoctoral researcher will become part of the swisspeace research community and will be hosted by a respective programmatic team. The researcher is expected to contribute to the research profile and intellectual environment at swisspeace by producing high quality research in the, broadly defined, area of peace studies and participating in scientific activities. Candidates with a research background and plan fitting within swisspeace's areas of expertise and strategic interests will be given preference.

Postdocs at swisspeace are affiliated with the University of Basel's Department of Social Sciences, where they can also teach and enjoy full access to the university's resources. swisspeace strives to create conditions for the Postdoc to complete their research plans, initiate new research agendas, and apply for third-party research funding.
