The Group of Animal Nutrition  at ETH Zurich is seeking a motivated, team-oriented post-doc scholar who has experience and interest in precision dairy farming. The expected starting date is early 2023, but with flexibility.


Project background

You will work actively with the team to develop a research program that uses emerging technological (e.g., wearable sensors, automated milking systems, etc.) and data-driven approaches to measuring physiological, behavioural, and production indicators to optimize production efficiencies and food quality, animal welfare, and improving the sustainability of dairy farms and livestock systems as a whole.


Job description

You are expected to conduct interdisciplinary research in the area of precision dairy science. Affinity for animal experiments and data analysis work is essential. Depending on the suitable research project, the job duties include,

  • Develop and conduct research projects;
  • Writing scientific manuscripts;
  • Supervision of graduate students;
  • Develop and conduct teaching activities.

Your profile

A PhD in Animal Science, Dairy Science, or a closely related field is required for this position. Applicants are required to have a PhD or equivalent doctorate and be able to provide evidence that all requirements have been met before the effective date of hire. Postdoctoral or industry experience is preferred. Written skills are important, and one must be able to effectively write scientific manuscripts. Experience in precision technologies, statistical analysis and programming is preferable.
