For the Photon Science Detector Group we are looking for a
Postdoctoral Fellow development and characterization of charge integrating detectors / 80% or more, flextime 

Your tasks
The Detector group is since more than 10 years on the forefront of charge integrating detector development, in particular with the Jungfrau detector, a 75um automatic gain switching pixel detector widely used at FELs and synchrotron Sources. 
You will participate in the characterization of the current and next generation Jungfrau charge integration pixel detectors. You will perfect the calibration routines. You will test detector prototypes and full modules, analyze the data, and collaborate with the chip designers to understand and improve the performance of the ASIC. You will take part in experiments and beamtimes to characterize and optimize the performance of the Jungfrau detectors. 
As our group philosophy relies on a strong teamwork, you will be able to get an insight in all aspects of detector development.

Skills/Qualifications

Your profile

  • You have a PhD degree in physics, electronic engineering or a subject related to solid state detectors
  • You have experience with radiation detectors, a knowledge of electronics is a plus
  • Skills in data analysis are required, preferably Root/C++, C and/or Python
  • You are highly motivated, can work independently and strive to contribute with new ideas
  • You like to collaborate, enjoy teamwork and can clearly communicate in English with people from different backgrounds
