The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-leading institute in global health with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, education and services at local, national and international levels. 900 people from 80 nations work at Swiss TPH focusing on infectious and non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health as well as health systems and interventions.
In the Department of Medical Parasitology and Infection Biology, the TB Immunology research group conducts basic and clinical research in BSL1, BSL2 and BSL3 environments. Our research aims to enhance our understanding of the host-pathogen interaction in tuberculosis (TB) with a strong focus on human immunity interplays. Eventually, our translational and clinical research projects wish to contribute to the development of improved TB diagnosis, vaccine and host-directed therapies. Our work is integrated in a multidisciplinary and international environment composed of computational sci-entists, microbiologists, immunologists as well as clinicians.
