The Department of Nuclear Medicine at Inselspital Bern University Hospital is one of the largest and most efficient nuclear medicine departments in Switzerland. We offer outpatients and inpatients the entire spectrum of modern nuclear medicine examination and treatment methods, including state-of-the-art technology such as the world's first installation of the digital long axial field of view Quadra PET/CT scanner from Siemens. With national and international collaborations, it is embedded in a strong network of clinical, preclinical and biomedical engineering research.

Project Overview

Our vision is to drive the future of nuclear medicine by advancing the development and preclinical characterisation of tracers, redefining image acquisition, and revolutionizing image reconstruction and analysis with state-of-the-art machine learning techniques. Ultimately, we aim to provide personalized diagnosis and therapy for optimal patient outcomes.

Open PostDoc Position in Molecular Imaging & Biology or Radiopharmacy

The Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Bern, Switzerland, opens a postdoctoral position. Candidates from biology, radiopharmacy or related fields who are interested in working in an interdisciplinary team of international scientists and are motivated to develop/establish state-of-the-art technologies and methods for molecular imaging and radionuclide therapy in preclinical settings are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Bern is equipped with the world's leading molecular imaging equipment and is integrated into a strong network of clinical, preclinical and biomedical engineering research in Bern with national and international collaborations. Salaries for these positions are in line with the University of Bern standard. Candidates are expected to have

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Very good command of English
  • A strong motivation for clinical translational research and in-depth knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
    • Radiopharmaceutical implementation and characterisation of diagnostic and/or therapeutic tracers
    • Molecular biology, organoid and preclinical experiments
    • Tumor imaging or preclinical disease models for molecular imaging procedures
