The Human Neuroimmunology Group led by Dr. Daniela Latorre at ETH Zurich is excited to announce an open position for a Lab Technician to join our dynamic and collaborative research team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects in human immunology. 


Project background

The Human Neuroimmunology Lab uses a wide range of state-of-the-art methodologies, including in vitro T cell screening, ex vivo tetramer staining, and scRNAseq, to study autoreactive T cell immunity in patients suffering from variuos neurological disorders. The Lab technician will contribute to high-quality research within well-funded projects in an international team of highly motivated researchers. 


Job description

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting various research activities and ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory. A significant percent effort will be dedicated to assist in the general lab duties and support the research activities of the team members. Speficically, the main activities include:

  • Immune Cell Isolation: Execute immune cell isolation procedures from biological samples obtained from patients and healthy donors.

  • High Throughput Screenings: Provide support for high throughput screenings, including but not limited to ELISA, PCR, and cell screenings.

  • Protocol Organization and Reagent Inventorying: Maintain organized documentation of protocols and catalog reagents and samples.

  • General Lab Duties: Assist in general lab duties to ensure the overall efficiency and cleanliness of the laboratory space. Collaboration with team members on various tasks is a key aspect of this responsibility.


Your profile

You are very well organized and able to work efficiently and with precision in a fast-paced environment. You are proactive and can work independently but also as part of a small group. Advanced knowledge of English is essential, as this is the working language of the team.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with at least 1-2 years of professional experience in industry or academia
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated experience in handling human blood samples and immune cell isolation is required
  • Experience with ELISA and standard molecular biology techniques is required
  • Basic knowledge of immunology is of advantage
  • Experience in T cell immunology, in vitro T cell culture, and functional T cell assays is of advantage
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
