The Institute of Molecular Biology & Biophysics (IMBB, Department of Biology) at ETH Zürich performs cutting-edge research and teaching in the field of Structural Biology. The institute comprises approximately 100 members in 10 research groups. We are looking for an ICT system specialist at the earliest possible date.


Job description

This attractive position encompasses the operation of diverse IT systems and services as well as the planning and development of future infrastructure.

It includes following tasks:

  • Coordination of IT support and planning in the institute
  • Maintenance of IT infrastructure
  • Technical advice to the management and the professorships of the institute  
  • Coordination of an IT team of up to three co-workers
  • Organization of data backups and data transfers
  • Planning, purchasing, and implementation of new IT systems
  • Joint responsibility for network zones in the institute
  • Contact point of the institute for the central IT services of ETH and of the department of Biology within ETH.

Your profile

This position requires several years of relevant work experience and a qualification in a related field.

You have experience in all or most of the following areas:

  • IT administration and support
  • Network configuration and management
  • Using and/or supporting different operating systems, including Windows/Server with ActiveDirectory, Linux, and macOS
  • Data management, IT service management, and IT security
  • Project management and coordination of projects

You identify yourself with the following characteristics:

  • You show a high degree of self-motivation, self-initiative, and independence
  • You enjoy a role as service provider and in supporting co-workers
  • You can adapt to the university environment and will engage in relevant continued education
  • You have excellent skills in English. Skills in German are an asset.
