Experimental Biochemist

The Ban Laboratory at ETH Zurich, Institute of Molecular Biology & Biophysics, Department of Biology, Switzerland, is hiring an experimental biochemist with a Master’s or a PhD degree to support lab operations.


Job description

The research will be conducted in an excellent scientific environment at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biophysics investigating the mechanisms of protein synthesis and regulation of translation in human cells. You work closely with PhD students and postdocs of the Ban laboratory to support their research projects. Responsibilities include carrying out molecular biology and biochemical experiments, working with human cell cultures and preparing samples for electron microscopic experiments. The position is available immediately with a start date by mutual agreement.


Your profile

You are expected to have a PhD or a Master’s degree in biology or biochemistry, and a successful publication record and a strong motivation for experimental research. Experience with RNA biochemistry, membrane protein biochemistry or ribosome biochemistry is a plus. You will have opportunity to learn modern methods in structural biology and biophysics.
