Project background

ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the energy, process, and utility sector by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that so far were beyond reach. Our customers are large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics electrical hardware.


Job description

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team of developers and robot enthusiasts as soon as possible or depending on availability. We develop electrical systems and custom electronic solutions which enable our robot to reliably perform its inspection and maintenance tasks. The team members closely collaborate with specialists from the mechanical and software development groups in order to evaluate, implement, test and support the product development process. We are passionate about excellent hardware design and system performance at competitive product costs.


Your contributions
  • Design electronic solutions following a structured development process
  • Assemble and test electronic prototypes, specialized equipment and final robotic products
  • Work together with external electronics manufacturing partners to ensure high quality and manufacturability of custom electronic designs
  • Closely interact with our production team to ensure correct robot manufacturing a seamless transfer of know-how
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team, including experts in the fields of mechanical and software engineering and supply chain management

Your profile
  • University degree in electrical engineering (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate)
  • First industrial experience with a proven track record in developing electronic solutions
  • Good knowledge regarding design of custom electronic systems
  • Well acquainted with common PCB design software and experience with multi-layered boards
  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic systems and solid hands-on problem solving skills
  • Good command of spoken/written English

Bonus points
  • Experience with common programming languages such as C++ and Python
  • Experience with selection and integration of radio-frequency equipment
  • Experience with design for electromagnetic compatibility
